Hans Schwenke (sculptor)

Hans Schwenke (also Johann , * mid- December 1589 in Pirna ; † beginning of August 1634 there ) was a German sculptor in Saxony .

Life

Schwenke was the older son of the sculptor Michael Schwenke . He received his sculptural training from his father, and later he worked in the sculptor workshop of Christoph Walther IV in Dresden . In 1610 he took over his father's workshop in Pirna and in 1622 became a citizen of the city of Pirna. In 1629 he was appointed head and four- master of the guild of stonemasons , masons and sculptors.
