Hans Thaler (doctor)

Hans Thaler (born September 21, 1878 in Vienna , † June 11, 1926 in Vienna) was an Austrian gynecologist and obstetrician .

Life

Hans Thaler attended high school in Vienna and studied at the University of Vienna . As a student he worked at the histological institute with Josef Schaffer and as an aspirant at the pathological-anatomical institute with Anton Weichselbaum . In 1903 he received his doctorate and then became an operating student with Julius Hochenegg at the II. Surgical Clinic. In 1905 he went to Friedrich Schauta at the I. University Women's Clinic and in 1907 became Schauta's scientific assistant . In 1913 he completed his habilitation. After the death of Friedrich Schauta in 1919, he initially worked at Ludwig Adler's side and, after his departure, temporarily managed the clinic until it was taken over by Heinrich von Peham . In 1920 Thaler received the title of extraordinary professor .

Hans Thaler worked in particular on problems of tetany of pregnancy , on tuberculosis and cancer during pregnancy and on methods of local anesthesia in gynecological operations.

Thaler died after a heart and kidney disease on June 11, 1926 in Vienna and was buried in the Döblingen cemetery . He was married.
