Hans Thomas (musician)

Hans Thomas , also called Hans Thomas-Mindnich (born August 14, 1937 in Bonn - Beuel ), is a German jazz musician ( trumpet , flugelhorn ) and music editor.

From 1949 Thomas received piano and accordion lessons; In 1952 he switched to the trumpet and received lessons until 1958. He played in the State Youth Orchestra of North Rhine-Westphalia and then directed his own mainstream jazz ensemble . With this band he recorded albums for the Focus and Intersound labels. Then he belonged to the Kurt Edelhagen Orchestra ; He also worked as a studio musician for Peter Herbolzheimer's Galactic Light Orchestra and was also involved in recordings by Walter Strerath and Madison . He composed under the pseudonym Thomas Mindnich . From 1966 to 1980 he was a lecturer in the jazz seminar at the University of Bonn ; he also worked at the St. Augustin Music School. In 1980 he went to Stuttgart to work as a music editor for Süddeutscher Rundfunk , where he was responsible for both the Jazztime and Treffpunkt Jazz programs and was one of the designers of the SDR 3 music program .
