Hans Wölpert (born May 13, 1898 in Munich ; † January 1, 1957 there ) was a German weightlifter.

Life

Hans Wölpert grew up in Munich and played soccer and gymnastics as a boy. Soon, however, his extraordinary strength was recognized and so he got into weightlifting. Immediately after the First World War , in which he still had to participate, he achieved his first successes and then remained in the top German weightlifting class until 1937. He started for TSV 1860 Munich and was German team champion several times with the team of this club. After 1919, however, he had to neglect weightlifting because of his training with the city of Munich. Since Germany was excluded from the Olympic Games in 1924 and no international championships were held from 1925 to 1927, Hans Wölpert was not able to start again internationally until 1928. From 1928, however, there was success after success.
