Hans Zesewitz

Hans Zesewitz (born December 23, 1888 in Colditz ; † January 26, 1976 in Hohenstein-Ernstthal ) was a German teacher and Karl May researcher .

life and work

After attending the teachers' seminar in Rochlitz , Hans Zesewitz, who first worked in Rochsburg from 1909 and then in Hohenstein-Ernstthal from 1912, and later also head of the city library, is considered to be one of the founders of Karl May research. His particular merit is the determination of the house where Karl May was born. Since 1921 he has published numerous articles on Karl May. In 1942 he was instrumental in collecting funds for a Karl May grove with a memorial stone.

Honors

The city library in Hohenstein-Ernstthal bears his name today.
