Hans van Hoek

Hans van Hoek (born February 15, 1947 in Deurne ) is a Dutch painter.

life and work

Van Hoek grew up in Noord-Brabant . He studied from 1962 to 1969 at the Akademie voor Kunst en Vormgeving St. Joost in 's-Hertogenbosch and from 1969 to 1971 completed a master's degree at Ateliers '63 in Haarlem . Van Hoek lived and worked in various places: London , Ontario (1971–1973), Montreal (1973–1977) in Canada, Neerkant near Deurne (1977–1982), Liessel near Deurne (1982–1996), Barrydale in South Africa (1996 -2008). In 2008 he returned to Deurne and worked for several months in the “Europees Keramisch werkcentrum” in 's-Hertogenbosch.

Van Hoek mainly paints still lifes , portraits and landscapes. Many of the works have frames made by him that are provided with reliefs. Ornaments, texts or floral motifs are often attached to the frame.
