Hans von Friebeis

Hans von Friebeis (born May 24, 1855 in Bruck an der Leitha ; † October 25, 1923 in Gmunden ) was an Austrian civil servant and mayor of Vienna from 1895 to 1896. When the incumbent mayor Raimund Grübl resigned after the poor performance of the Liberals in the Viennese municipal council elections, Friebeis was entrusted with the provisional management of the city administration by governor Erich Kielmansegg on June 1, 1895. He was replaced by Josef Strobach in 1896 . Friebeis was buried in the Hietzingen cemetery .

During his studies in 1877 he became a member of the striking student union Akademischer Gesangsverein .

Johann Friebeisz as the main buyer and his sons Johann u. Stefan as a sideline received from Emperor Ferdinand III. on June 24, 1655 in Pressburg a letter of nobility and coat of arms.

1655: In blue on green ground, two golden lions, with the front paws holding up a bare sword with a golden quillons, around the tip of which a green laurel wreath is wound. A golden, right-turned lion growing over the crowned helmet, holding a scimitar with a golden cross-guard in his raised right hand. The covers are blue-gold on the right and red-silver on the left.
