Hansgeorg Conert

Hansgeorg Conert (born March 19, 1933 ; † January 6, 2004 ) was a German economist and social scientist and author. He was a professor at the University of Bremen and belonged to the inner circle of the Socialist Bureau .

Career

Conert was the son of a self-employed miller and grew up near Weimar , spent his youth in the GDR, then moved to the Federal Republic, where he studied at the University of Labor, Politics and Economics in Wilhelmshaven . After completing his studies ( doctorate ), he was a speaker at a folk high school in Hustedt for ten years . He then taught at the University of Bremen. His main areas of work were: economy, society and politics of socialist systems, especially the former Soviet Union .
