Hansjürgen Knoche

Hansjürgen Knoche , (born February 21, 1930 in Plauen im Vogtland ), Sanctae Theologiae Doctor (STD Wittenberg Lutheran Seminary, USA), is a German ministerial conductor and a former president of the Lower Saxony Constitutional Protection . D.

Life

Hansjürgen Knoche grew up in Leipzig. There he attended the König-Albert-Gymnasium and passed the Abitur in 1948. Knoche began studying law , theology and philosophy . In 1950 he came to Freiburg im Breisgau as a political refugee and continued his studies there. He passed the first and second state exams in Freiburg and Stuttgart and received his doctorate in Freiburg in 1957 with the topic: "Ulrich Zasius and the Freiburg city law of 1520".

He then worked as a research assistant (Kiel), lawyer (Frankfurt) and in the insurance industry (Düsseldorf, Wiesbaden, Hamburg; authorized signatory and department director). Knoche was in the state service of Lower Saxony from 1960, first with the President of the Lower Saxony administrative district of Braunschweig, then in the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior as head of the cabinet department, state returning officer and finally President of the Lower Saxony State Office for the Protection of the Constitution. He retired in 1993.

Knoche was in ecumenical associations since 1960, z. Partly in a leading position, active and member of the Evangelical Collection, then of the Federation for Evangelical-Catholic Reunification (now: Unity) e. V, board member and advisory board member for decades. Co-founder and elder of the ecumenically oriented St. James Brotherhood , member of the high church association of the Augsburg Confession and former member of the Unità dei Cristiani . Since 2002 he has been the editor-in-chief of the magazine “Building blocks for the unity of Christians”, published by the Bund für Evangelical-Catholic Unity e. V. Employee of the Catholic News Agency (KNA - ÖKI) and founder and board member of the " König-Albert-Gymnasium Leipzig" foundation . Numerous theological and philosophical lectures, publications and discussions with church authorities made him a well-known German evangelical ecumenist.
