Harald Hundius

Harald Hundius (born February 20, 1939 in Hamburg ) is a German Southeast Asian scientist , especially Thaiist .

Life

Hundius in 1971 at the University of Frankfurt Dr. phil. PhD. From 1971 to 1974 he was the first to conduct extensive research into the Lan Na manuscripts in the eight northernmost provinces of Thailand, funded by the German Research Foundation. From 1977 to 1982 he worked as a research assistant at the University of Kiel . He then taught at the University of Chiang Mai until 1992 as part of a DAAD lectureship . In 1991 he completed his habilitation at the University of Freiburg .

Hundius taught from 1993 to 2004 as a professor for Thai and Lao languages ​​and literature at the University of Passau . In 2000, he was awarded Chiang Mai University , the honorary doctorate in Lanna-language and literature. Since 1992 he has carried out projects for the conservation of manuscripts at the National Library of Laos.
