Harald Janson

Harald Martin Adolf Janson (born July 9, 1969 in Aschaffenburg ) is a German basketball trainer and official.

career

Harald Janson was active as a coach at USC Freiburg from 1993 and initially coached youth teams and the regional league women. From 2007 to 2012 he was the head coach of the USC Kingfishers in the women's basketball division . He led the team to the German runner-up in 2011 and to the playoff semifinals in 2008 and 2010. In the 2009/10 season he was named “Coach of the Year” in the women's Bundesliga by the internet service eurobasket.com .

In addition to his role as a club coach, Janson was the assistant coach of the German women's national team from 2010 . He was head coach of the female U20 national team of Germany at the B-EM 2012 and the A-EM 2013.

After the end of his coaching tenure in Freiburg, Janson became the sporting director of the kingfishers.

In December 2013 he returned to the coaching post after Stefan Mienack left and looked after the team until the end of the 2013/14 season. After that he concentrated again on the office of sports director.

Janson is a full-time high school teacher for sport and French and worked as a research assistant in the areas of sport education as well as theory and practice of sport at the Institute for Sport and Sport Science at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg .
