The USC Eisvögel are a basketball team from USC Freiburg . Your mascot is the kingfisher . Between 1998 and 2000, the first women's team from the Regionalliga rose twice in a row and played continuously in the 1st women's basketball league from 2000 to 2017 . The university sports hall with 1,200 seats and the Sepp Glaser hall with 2,300 seats serve as venues.

history

After being promoted to the first women's basketball league in 2000, the team became German vice-cup winners in the 2001/02 season. In the 2005/06 season, the kingfishers took 2nd place after the end of the second half of the season. In the 2006/07 season, the team came fourth in the Bundesliga with a strongly rejuvenated team. In the 2007/2008 season, the team came fourth again in the Bundesliga and came third in the DBBL cup competition. The 2008/09 season ended the kingfishers after the 22nd matchday in ninth place in the table. In the following season, the team surprisingly reached third place in the table, but could not repeat this for the 2010/11 season. Here the team was in fifth place after 13 wins and nine defeats. After this damper, the team was able to play its way back to third place in the table in the 2011/12 season. The kingfishers won the 2013 cup at the final tournament in Freiburg and won their first national title.

In 2017, after 17 years in the Bundesliga, relegation to the second division had to be accepted, under coach Pierre Hohn  he was immediately promoted again in the 2017/18 season. Hohn left the team after the success, his successor was Hanna Ballhaus .
