Harald Johnsen

Harald Johnsen (actually: Harald Gill Johnsen ; born March 19, 1970 , † July 24, 2011 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian jazz bassist .

During his music studies at the Technical and Natural Sciences University of Norway (NTNU) in Trondheim (1989–1993) he was a member of the Trondheim Kunstorkester directed by Trygve Seim .

He later took part in a number of jazz bands and recordings. Among them are groups like the Nils-Olav Johansen Trio or the Jan-Erik-Kongshaug Quartet as well as collaborations with artists such as Sigurd Køhn and Bjørn Johansen .

He became known to a wider audience outside Norway in recent years through his work in the Silje Nergaard Band or with the Tord Gustavsen Trio , from which he separated in 2008 for health reasons.

On July 24, 2011, Johnsen died of heart failure at the age of 41. Harald Gill Johnsen's grave is located near Gamle Aker kirke in the Oslo cemetery, Gamle Aker kirkegård.
