Harald Meurer

Harald Anton Meurer (born September 20, 1959 in Andernach ) is a German internet entrepreneur. He is the founder and managing director of the donation portal HelpDirect.org with the charity shopping platform HelpShops , the technology company HelpMundo , the cashback platform Getmore.de and the digital agency AGIDOS. In 2012, as an internet pioneer, he received the Federal Cross of Merit from Federal President Joachim Gauck .

Life

Harald Meurer started his professional career in 1985 after completing his commercial and business training, initially at the Japanese group AKAI as a professional sales manager. After an engagement in the USA as international manager for the technology company Hughes & Kettner , he was responsible for the development of the trade and sales structure in the then still new federal states for Sony . After an interim position as managing director of CTS (today: Eventim ), he switched to the internet industry in 1998 and was a co-founder of PriceContrast , one of the first price comparison portals in Germany. Further foundings followed, such as the motorsport platform F1Total (today: Motorsport-Total ). Afterwards, Meurer, as division manager, was jointly responsible for setting up the HappyDigits bonus program and the Telekom Friends sales platform (today: TelekomProfi ).

In the 1990s, Meurer implemented numerous online projects and is now considered an internet pioneer. In addition to innovations in the online area, the focus of his activities is usually a non-profit or social idea. In 1999 he founded the first German online donation portal HelpDirect.org , which he has been running on a voluntary basis ever since . Other charity projects followed: In 2008 Meurer launched the HelpCard , the first social gift card in German-speaking countries to support charitable projects. Around 4,500 non-profit associations and organizations now use the online donation technology developed by Meurer.

Harald Meurer is married to Ulrike Rick-Meurer and has three sons. His older brother Uli was involved in helping AIDS.
