HelpDirect.org

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

HelpDirect.org is a German online donation portal . It was founded in 1999 by the internet entrepreneur Harald Meurer as a non-profit organization in Munich and was the first internet donation platform in Germany .

history

Since it was founded, aid organizations from the areas of humanitarian aid, environmental , nature and animal protection have presented their projects free of charge on HelpDirect.org and collect donations for them . So far, over 1,500 organizations have collected donations in the double-digit millions for around 3,500 aid projects in 130 countries.

functionality

HelpDirect acts as an intermediary between the donor and the organization and is not involved in the donation payment process. The donor stores his donor data on HelpDirect , which is then encrypted and forwarded to the selected organization to collect the donation.

HelpRank

In order to bring transparency to the work and activities of organizations, HelpDirect has developed the HelpRank, a system for interested donors, which includes all relevant validation systems, since 2005 . The HelpRank evaluates the various existing systems and certifications according to their importance in the market and their control structure. He helps the donor in his evaluation of an organization in order to better assess the degree of its transparency.

HelpCard

The HelpCard is a social gift card that can be used to support aid projects by non-profit organizations. It can be individually designed by the donor and given away to friends and acquaintances. They then redeem the value of the HelpCard on HelpDirect for one of the many aid projects and are thus involved in the donation process and project selection. In 2012 HelpDirect received the Signs Award of the German media industry for the HelpCard system as "Marksetter of the Year". The HelpCard was the first donation gift card in Germany.

HelpTools

The HelpTools are online donation forms and Facebook donation apps that HelpDirect makes available to non-profit organizations and associations for integration on their website free of charge. These can be individually adapted to the needs and design of the organization. HelpDirect's donation technology is used by over 4,500 non-profit associations and organizations in German-speaking countries.

HelpShops

In the HelpShops , users can buy from a large number of online retailers based on the principle of charity shopping . When you complete your purchase, you will receive a bonus. Then they decide which charitable project the money will go to. In order to claim the donations from the tax office, the receiving organization issues the user a tax-deductible donation receipt.

Financing model

The employees and members work voluntarily for HelpDirect . The technology itself is financed exclusively through donations, on the one hand through donations from its members, on the other hand through so-called “co-donations” from the donors. When donating to a selected aid project, they decide whether they want to make a contribution to refinancing the HelpDirect donation technology in the form of a small donation.
