Ludwig Eckinger

Ludwig Eckinger (born May 10, 1944 in Aigen am Inn ) is a German teacher , author and educational functionary. From 1993 to 2009 he was federal chairman of the Association for Education and Upbringing (VBE).

Life

After attending a grammar school, Eckinger completed training as a primary school teacher at the Regensburg University of Education and passed his state examination at the Kelheim secondary school . He then worked as a research assistant at the University of Regensburg. After completing a postgraduate course in pedagogy and political science, he received his doctorate there in 1979 with the text Zur Situation des Junglehrers: An attempt to take stock of the preparatory service in Bavaria and considerations on the legal clerkship to become a Dr. phil. From 1982 to 1994 he was the rector of the primary school in Saal an der Donau .

During his studies, Eckinger was involved as AStA chairman and in the working group for young Bavarian teachers (ABJ). From 1984 to 2007 he was Vice President of the Bavarian Teachers' Association (BLLV) and from 1993 to 2009 Federal Chairman of the Association for Education and Upbringing (VBE). From 1996 he sat in the expert commission on schools, education, science of the DBB Beamtenbund and Tarifunion and was its chairman from 2000 to 2009.

Awards

In 2006, Eckinger was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon to honor his commitment to greater educational equality in Germany and the strengthening of the teaching profession. In 2012 Eckinger, who had contributed to the establishment of close contacts between the VBE and the partner union of public service teachers (GÖD) with the aim of recognizing the teaching profession and establishing a cross-border professional model, received the Great Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria .

Eckinger has been an honorary member of the BLLV since 2007 and an honorary member and holder of the title "Honorary Chairman of the VBE " since 2009 .
