Harald Moritz (born July 31, 1957 in Berlin ) is a German politician of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party . He has been a member of the Berlin House of Representatives since 2011 . His main political topics are transport policy and urban planning .

Life and work

Harald Moritz was born in Berlin in 1957 and grew up in Brandenburg . After completing the 10th grade, he trained as a car mechanic . With the exception of his time as a construction soldier (unarmed alternative military service in the GDR) from 1983 to 1985, he worked as a car mechanic until 2011. In 2009, he completed further training as a car service technician . He has lived in Berlin-Treptow since 1977 . Moritz is married and has one grown son and two grandchildren.

Long before the fall of the Wall, Moritz was politically active in various groups, including a. in the confessional community Berlin-Treptow and in the peace circle “PRO” in Oberschöneweide. In autumn 1989 he joined the New Forum , then in 1990 Alliance 90 .

In the first free municipal election after the fall of the Wall, he was elected to the Treptower District Council (BVV). From 1990 to 1999, as a district councilor, he represented the alliance green policy in the transport committee, of which he was chairman from 1992 to 1999, in the urban planning committee and in the committee for submissions and complaints. From 1999 to 2006 Moritz was the spokesman for the Bündnisgrünen district group in Treptow-Köpenick . From 2006 until his election to the House of Representatives in 2011, he supported the Alliance Green BVV parliamentary group in Treptow-Köpenick in the areas of transport and urban planning. Since 2012 he has also been an elected member of the state party council of BÜNDNIS 90 / DIE GRÜNEN .

On September 18, 2011 Moritz was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives via the alliance green state list . He was the transport policy spokesman for road and air traffic in the construction, housing and transport committee, in the petitions committee and since October 2012 in the investigative committee for BER.

On September 18, 2016 Moritz was re-elected to the Berlin House of Representatives via the alliance green state list. He is the transport policy spokesman for pedestrian, road and air traffic. He is a member of the Environment, Transport, Climate Protection Committee, the Urban Development and Housing Committee and the Petitions Committee.

Harald Moritz actively supports various citizens' initiatives and associations in the south-east of Berlin. Since 1990 he has been active as a spokesman for the citizens' initiative Stadtring Süd (BISS) against the extension of the A100 urban motorway from Neukölln to Treptow. He is also a founding member of the Kunger-Kiez-Initiative and the social alliance Alt-Treptow. Here he campaigns against usury and displacement. He also supports other citizens' initiatives such as B. the AG Pro Plänterwald in their endeavors to fit the Spreepark into the Landscape Protection Act (LSG) Plänterwald.
