Sten Harald Torsslow (born February 10, 1838 in Kristianstad , Schonen , Sweden , † December 7, 1909 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish actor , opera singer and landscape painter from the Düsseldorf school .

Life

Torsslow, son of actors Olof Ulrik Torsslow (1801–1881) and Sara Fredrika (née Strömstedt, 1795–1859), studied painting at the Stockholm Art Academy . From 1857 to 1859 he was employed as an actor at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. In 1859 he went to Düsseldorf , where the Norwegian landscape painter Hans Fredrik Gude taught him privately until 1860. From 1864 to 1888 he worked again at the Royal Stockholm Opera, now as a singer in tenor and baritone roles. At the same time he painted. In 1869 he became a member (agré) of the Stockholm Art Academy.
