Harald Uhl

Harald Uhl (born October 15, 1934 ; † January 12, 2017 ) was an Austrian professor and local politician who worked in Wachtberg .

Life

Harald Uhl studied at the University of Vienna Law and received his doctorate in this subject and later in political science. In 1969 he came to Bonn for work and has lived in the neighboring municipality of Wachtberg ever since. From 1985 to 1995 he was chairman of the Wachtberg SPD. He worked as a local researcher and published several publications on this. I.a. he worked on the small monument guide for Niederbachem . Uhl was also involved in the Niederbachem home and beautification club . He was awarded the Rheinlandtaler of the Rhineland Regional Association(LVR) honored, an award for people who are committed to the culture of the Rhineland. He was also awarded the Federal Cross of Merit.

He was also involved in the Wachtberg Evangelical Church. He had already campaigned for ecumenism in Austria and was a founding member of the Ecumenical Youth Council there . He also advocated dialogue between Jews and Christians .
