Hardoi is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .
Hardoi lies in the north Indian plain 100 km northwest of Lucknow . The Ramganga and Ganges rivers run 35 km west and south of the city. Hardoi is the administrative seat of the district of the same name .
Main roads lead to the surrounding towns of Lucknow, Sitapur , Shahjahanpur and Kannauj . Hardoi is on the Lucknow – Shahjahanpur railway line.
As a city, Hardoi has the status of Nagar Palika Parishad . The city is divided into 26 wards . At the 2011 census, Hardoi had 126,851 inhabitants.
