Hardtwald (Kraichgau)

The Hardtwald or Hartwald is a 25 km² forest area in the Kraichgau east and south of the city of Eppingen in the Heilbronn district in Baden-Württemberg .

The Hardtwald lies between the valleys of the larger rivers Elsenz in the north-west and west, Lein in the east, Zaber in the south and Kraichbach in the south-west. Beyond the Leintal, the Heuchelberg runs from northeast to southwest , and the Stromberg to the south beyond the Zabertal in an east-west direction ; as with these, the surrounding rock is part of the Keuper .

The Hardtwald reached its highest altitudes not quite 320  m above sea level. NN . On its western edge is the free hilltop of the Ottilienberg, surrounded by forest .
