Harish Khanna

Harish Khanna (born September 10, 1925 in Multan , † July 24, 1995 in New Delhi ) was an Indian media and film official.

Life

Khanna began his career with All India Radio in 1949 , where he gained five years of radio experience. From 1954 to 1956 he worked for the BBC in London . In 1959 he joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and earned a reputation as a media expert. He was employed by the Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in the 1960s and 1970s and dealt with the use of the mass media in the Indian state family planning programs ; wrote numerous articles in professional journals. In the early 1970s he was director of the International Film Festival of India in New Delhi. In theBerlinale 1973 he was a member of the jury.

In the early 1980s, Khanna was Vice Chairman of the Delhi Development Authority and, from 1985 to 1986, Director General of the Indian state television network Doordarshan . He then worked as Executive Director of the Population Foundation of India for the sexual education of young people until the 1990s .
