Harold Mayot (born February 4, 2002 in Metz ) is a French tennis player .

Career

Mayot is eligible to play on the ITF Junior Tour until the end of 2020. There he took part in all four Grand Slam tournaments from 2019 . His first major success was reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon 2019 . In early 2020, he won the title at the Australian Open in an all-French duel against his doubles partner Arthur Cazaux . After the tournament he reached number 1 in the junior ranking list. In doubles, his best performance was four times a quarter-finals.

Mayot started playing professional tournaments in 2019. In the second half of the year, he reached the finals of three consecutive ITF Future Tour tournaments . He could win one of the tournaments; in doubles he also succeeded in winning a future tournament. In 2020 the Frenchman played his first tournaments on the higher endowed ATP Challenger Tour . In all four of these tournaments, he survived the opening hurdle, in Nouméa he reached the eighth in Bendigo and Pau the quarter-finals. With Jahor Herassimau , he defeated a top 100 player for the first time. He made his debut on the ATP Tour at the tournament in Marseille , where he entered both competitions with a wildcard . In the singles he was defeated by Gilles Simon , in doubles with Cazaux to the pairing of Nicolas Mahut and Vasek Pospisil . He reached his best position in the tennis world rankings at the beginning of March with 447th place.
