Harpersfield Township is located in the northwest of Ashtabula County in the extreme northeast of Ohio. It is about 8 km to the north from Lake Erie and borders clockwise on the townships: Geneva Township , Saybrook Township , Austinburg Township , Morgan Township , Trumbull Township , Thompson Township in Geauga County and Madison Township in Lake County .

The township is administered by a Board of Trustees consisting of three elected members. Two people are elected in the year after the presidential election and one in the year before. The term of office usually lasts four years and begins on January 1st. There is also a township clerk (secretary), who is also elected for a four-year term in the year before the presidential election. His term of office begins on April 1st.
Worth seeing
The 69.5 m long Harpersfield Covered Bridge , which was built in 1868 and spans the Grand River , is worth seeing . The bridge was renovated in 1991–92.
