life and work

Parschau initially worked in aircraft construction from 1938 to 1941 and as a blacksmith from 1947 to 1950. After taking drawing lessons at the adult education center and studying at the AS Skid press drawing school , he worked as a freelance caricaturist for the Berliner Zeitung , the Wochenpost and - over a period of around 15 years - for the New Germany from 1950 . From 1952 he was employed as a draftsman for the satirical magazine Frischer Wind . In this and the successor magazine Eulenspiegel , founded in 1954 , he had published around 8,800 drawings by the end of his collaboration in 1991. The Eulenspiegel phase alone accounts for 8,237 graphics; this makes him the most printed caricaturist in this magazine. In addition, Parschau's graphics, which are certified as having British humor, appeared in books by Eulenspiegel-Verlag . He has also illustrated children's books, for example by Edith Bergner , Anne Geelhaar and Peter Abraham .
