Political career

Reiche was a member of the SED from 1979 to 1989 . He completed a course at the SED party school in Ballenstedt . From 1985 to 1994 Reiche was mayor of the community of Wohlmirstedt .

In 1999 the now non-party rich ran for a seat in the district council . There he joined the SPD parliamentary group and was elected parliamentary group leader. Due to disagreements within the parliamentary group as to whether a non-party leader should be, the parliamentary group split, so that at times there were two SPD parliamentary groups in the district council. This could only be resolved when Reich joined the party.

In the local elections in 2001, Reiche was elected as an SPD candidate for the district administrator of the Burgenland district. In 2004 he resigned from the SPD. When the district became part of the newly created Burgenland district on July 1, 2007 as part of the second district reform , the non-party rich was nominated as a candidate by the CDU district association of Burgenland . He was also supported by the FDP . Reiche prevailed in the first ballot on April 22, 2007 with 51.5 percent of the votes against his competitors. On January 10, 2014, Reiche announced that they would not run again for the next district election in the same year and would therefore leave office. Götz Ulrich became the new district administrator .

In addition to his work as district administrator, Reiche was Vice President of the Saxony-Anhalt district council from June 1, 2013 . He replaced Ulrich Gerstner , who in turn became the new president of the district assembly in place of Michael Ermrich . Reiche held this office until he left the district administrator in 2014. The district administrator of the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district , Uwe Schulze , became the new vice-president .
