Harry Anselm Clinch

Harry Anselm Clinch (born October 27, 1908 in San Rafael , California - † March 8, 2003 ) was Bishop of Monterey in California .

Life

Harry Anselm Clinch received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Monterey-Fresno on June 6, 1936 .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on December 5, 1956 auxiliary bishop in Monterey-Fresno and titular bishop of Badiae . The Bishop of Monterey-Fresno, Aloysius Joseph Willinger , donated him episcopal ordination on February 27 of the following year ; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops Timothy Manning from Los Angeles and Merlin Joseph Guilfoyle from San Francisco .

Clinch participated in the second to fourth session of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

After the establishment of the Diocese of Fresno , Pope Paul VI appointed him . Bishop of Monterey, California on October 16, 1967 . Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation on January 19, 1982.
