Harrison "Harry" Garside (* 22. July 1997 ) is an Australian boxer in the lightweight .

Career

The 1.70 m tall southpaw is trained by Brian Levier. He was Australian youth champion in 2015 and took part in the same year as the Australian team captain at the Commonwealth Youth Games, where he was eliminated in the round of 16 against Dalton Smith.

In 2016 he won the Australian adult championships and competed in the Asia-Oceania Olympic qualification in China , where he defeated Chad Milnes but lost to Shan Jun. In the 2016 World Olympic qualification in Baku , he defeated Kastriot Sopa and Choi Hae-Ju before being eliminated in the round of 16 against Volkan Gökçek.

In 2017 he again won the Australian Championships and the Oceanic Championships , which meant he qualified for the 2017 World Championships in Hamburg . There he lost in the preliminary round to Karen Tonakanyan.

He achieved his greatest success to date at the Commonwealth Games in 2018 . With wins against Abdul Omar, Tyragain Ndevelo, Nathaniel Collins, Michael McDonagh and Manish Kaushik , he won the gold medal. He also won the Australian championship again in 2018 and 2019. At the 2019 World Championships , he was eliminated from Ilija Popow before reaching the medal ranks.
