Harry Sacksioni
Harry Sacksioni (born October 23, 1950 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch guitarist and composer .
Biography and work
Harry Sacksioni was born the son of the football player of the same name Harry Sacksioni Sr. (1921-2018) and his wife Rie van Etteger in Amsterdam. After Sacksioni had originally also aimed for a football career and had unsuccessfully applied to Ajax Amsterdam , he decided in 1968 at the age of 17 for a career as a musician and was engaged as a guitarist in several bands. In 1969 he came into contact with Herman van Veen by chance and became his accompanist.
Sacksioni reached the height of its success in the 1970s. His best known works are Meta Sequoia , Vensters , Elixer or Thee bij tante Josephine . In Germany he became known as the accompanist van Veens, with whom Sacksioni recorded numerous records in the early 1970s and with whom he also accompanied on stage. He was also touring with the guitar band The Five Great Guitars (including Jan Akkerman , Jan Kuiper and Eric Vaarzon Morel ).
In 1982 Sacksioni ended his collaboration with Herman van Veen, as he wanted to deal with his own music projects from now on and felt that the collaboration with Herman van Veen was permanently incompatible with his own projects.
From 2005 he was on tour again as a guest musician with Van Veen in the Netherlands as well as in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Sacksioni was also active in the 1970s as a composer for films and television series, in particular by and with Herman van Veen, for example for 21 van een kwartje (1975) and The strange adventures of Herman van Veen (1977). In the latter series, Sacksioni also worked as an actor.
Sacksioni makes it a point that his music is not commercial; his works appear exclusively on an independent label. In this way he protests against the high prices of the audio CD .
Sacksioni uses different guitars in his recordings and on stage . A two-necked guitar (an assembly of an acoustic and an electric guitar) was made especially for him.
Harry Sacksioni is married to Nancy de Roever and has two children. He has lived in Lienden since the 1980s .
