Lienden is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland , in the Betuwe region . Lienden has belonged to the municipality of Buren since January 1st, 1999 . On January 1, 2017, Lienden had 4,265 residents.
Location, surroundings and traffic
Lienden is about five and a half kilometers north of the Waal and about two and a half kilometers south of the Lower Rhine . Neighboring places are Elst in the north, Rhenen in the east , directly neighboring Meerten in the south and Ommeren in the west . The Provinciale Weg N320 runs south of Lienden and the next motorway is Rijksweg 15 with the junctions Ochten and Echteld . The nearest train station is in Kesteren on the Tiel - Arnhem railway line .
Education and trade
The beginnings of Lienden probably go back to the 970s. Today Lienden is one of the four larger of the 15 villages that belong to Buren. In addition to a public primary school, which has been called De Sterappel (The Apple ) since 2005 , there is also a Protestant school named after Eben Haëzer ( Eben-Ezer ), the stone of God's help . The plan is to expand the existing shopping facilities with a large shopping center called 3slag , but building plots for residential buildings are also currently being marketed.
There are several sports clubs in the village, including a football club and a tennis club. Today there is a cultural facility in the former town hall.
