Harry Bayless Stockwell (born April 27, 1902 in Kansas City , Missouri , † July 19, 1984 in New York City ) was an American actor, speaker and singer.

Life

In the 1920s, Harry Stockwell became known as an actor and singer in numerous musicals, including on Broadway in New York. In the following decades he played in musicals such as Broadway Nights , George White's Scandals and As Thousands Cheer . A great success for him was the role of Curly in the famous musical Oklahoma! which he played on Broadway for a long time in the 1940s. He only occasionally worked as an actor in Hollywood: His first films there were Broadway Melody in 1936 and Here Comes the Band from 1935. Stockwell achieved lasting fame in 1937 when he played for Walt Disney the Prince in the classic film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs lent his voice. He played his last film role in Hollywood in 1973 in the horror film The Werewolf of Washington .

Harry Stockwell was married to the actress Nina Olivette Stockwell (1910-1993) in second marriage until his death in 1984. His two sons from his first marriage are Guy Stockwell and Dean Stockwell , who also had significant acting careers.
