Hartmann Ammann

Hartmann Ammann (born June 21, 1856 in Aschau near Reutte as Johann Ammann , Tyrol ; † November 17, 1930 in Neustift Monastery , South Tyrol , Italy ) was an Austrian historian and archivist .

Life

Johann Ammann studied at the Universities of Innsbruck and Rome . On the recommendation of Ludwig von Pastor , he received a scholarship at the Roman Institute of the Görres Society (1898 - 1890). He entered the congregation of the Austrian Augustinian Canons and took the religious name Hartmann. From 1885 to 1926 he was a professor at the Abbey high school in Brixen. In addition, he worked at the same time as archivist of the prince-bishop's court archive in Brixen and as monastery archivist in Neustift monastery.

Hartmann Ammann published several historical works in the grammar school programs of the Brixen monastery and in the magazine of the Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck in the "Research and communications on the history of Tyrol", among others:
