Hartmut Rohmeyer (* 1951 in Chemnitz ) is a German church musician . From 1990 to February 2018 he was cantor and organist at Lübeck Cathedral .

Life

Hartmut Rohmeyer grew up in a pastor's family in the Ore Mountains . He studied music at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden and the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music and Theater in Leipzig . He left the GDR on a concert tour and continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg and in Paris .

In 1980 he became a lecturer at the University for Protestant Church Music in Bayreuth and organist in the old town community there. In 1990 he was appointed to succeed Uwe Röhl at Lübeck Cathedral, where he worked as cantor and organist. In addition to the cathedral choir, since 1998 he has also directed the Lübeck singing and playing group founded by Bruno Grusnick in 1928 . Rohmeyer is a professor at the Lübeck University of Music , where he teaches an organ class.

Rohmeyer is Deputy Chairman of the International Dieterich Buxtehude Society, which was founded in 2004 .

In February 2018, Rohmeyer was adopted in Lübeck. He goes to the Church of the Redeemer (Jerusalem) as a church musician .
