Hartwig Franzen
Hartwig Franzen (born March 21, 1878 in Nortorf ; † February 14, 1923 in Karlsruhe ) was a German chemist.
Life
The son of a margarine manufacturer studied chemistry from 1898 at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . Here he joined the student union Landsmannschaft Zaringia . The habilitation took place in 1904 . This was followed by a research stay in Berlin, where he began his research on the components of green plants . In them he demonstrated how one can get to their fatty acids . This work led in 1912 to the call to the scheduled associate professor for organic chemistry at the TH Karlsruhe , as successor to Hermann Staudinger . Due to multiple teaching duties and military service, he was no longer able to produce his already widely funded work on biochemistry.
