From 1867 to 1877, as a builder, he took over the management of a larger section of the Venlo-Hamburg railway that was under construction . In 1882 he returned to his native Schönkirchen. Here he became a registrar on July 1, 1886 and in 1899 head of the office.

Wiese died unmarried in 1905 in Schönkirchen.

Scientific work

Wieses grandfather had a small scientific library in which his grandson found inspiration for natural history considerations. Since 1890 he was a member of the “Die Heimat” association, which dealt with natural and regional studies. He himself was committed to the preservation of songbirds and storks and created a little paradise for birds in his garden.

Wiese wrote numerous articles that were still considered valuable sources in the 20th century. In 1888, 1890 and 1894 he visited museums and art treasures while traveling, including in Weimar , Switzerland and Italy. In 1891 he visited the Naumann Museum in Koethen and repeatedly the Zoological Museum in Berlin .

The zoologist Karl August Möbius , who visited Wiese several times in Schönkirchen, brought Wiese into contact with Paul Leverkühn . Wiese created a small collection of birds and bird eggs, mammals, reptiles, insects and stones, which he later donated to the Zoological Museums in Sofia and Kiel .

In 1886, Wiese himself published a small book about Schönkirchen, which included material he had collected on the history of the place and many plans and sketches he had made himself.
