Hartwig Gottwald (born August 27, 1917 in Briey ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and former member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

Hartwig Gottwald joined the Wehrmacht as a flag junior after graduating from high school in 1936. He did military service in World War II and was taken prisoner of war in Russia from 1944 to 1949. After his release from captivity, he worked in an industrial company and in 1951 became advertising manager in a hat factory . Since 1952 he has been an independent advertising manager and consultant.

In the mid-1950s, Gottwald organized the “Hut Arbeitsgemeinschaft”, in which the entire hat industry worked together on a successful advertising campaign under the slogan “Man wearing hats again”. He organized hat parades and straw hat tournaments in the shopping streets of the big cities and luxury resorts.

Hartwig Gottwald joined the CDU after the war and was a member of the district executive committee of the CDU. 1954 to 1957 he was also chairman of the Junge Union of the Wiesbaden district association . From December 1, 1957, when he replaced Berthold Martin , to August 31, 1960, when he resigned, he was a member of the Hessian state parliament.
