Hartwig von Stiten († 1511)

Hartwig von Stiten (* before 1489 in Lübeck ; † 1511 in ibid.) Was a German politician and mayor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

In 1489 Hartwig von Stiten was elected to the city council and appointed mayor in 1502 . Together with the mayor of Lübeck, Diedrich Hupe , he mediated in Parkentin in 1495 a dispute between the city of Rostock and the dukes of Mecklenburg. In 1503, together with Mayor Tideman Berck, he was a participant in the negotiations with Duke Friedrich in Lübeck about the dispute with Denmark, including talks with the ambassadors of the Danish King Johann about the violation of the Hanseatic trade privileges by Denmark. Hartwig von Stiten was a participant in the Hanseatic Day 1507 in Lübeck.

He was a member of the circle society since 1470 .

family

He was the son of the Lübeck councilor and mayor Heinrich von Stiten from his first marriage and belonged to the von Stiten family, which was influential in Lübeck . His first marriage was to Geseke, daughter of Ludeke Bere , and his second marriage to Cillie, daughter of Ricbodo Kerckring . He had the following children:

  • Katharina († before 1518), married to (1st) Johann von Wickede († 1509) , member of the circle society (256), (2nd) Klaus Kapenhagen and 1515 (3rd) with Mathias Mulich .
  • (from 2nd marriage): Anton von Stiten (* before 1503; † 1564), who also became mayor in 1540.
