Ludeke Bere

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ludeke Bere († May 6, 1488 in Lübeck ; ▭ in the Marienkirche ) was councilor and member of the circle society in Lübeck.

Life

Ludeke Bere was a Hanseatic merchant . It is possible that he is identical to Ludolfius Bere , who enrolled at the University of Rostock in December 1429 without specifying his place of origin .

Around 1447, like numerous other Lübeck residents , merchandise was stolen from Count Otto von Hoya's territory . Ludeke Bere had a considerable fortune: in November 1458 he bought a pension of 102 marks from the dukes Bernhard II and Johann IV of Saxony-Lauenburg for 1700 marks. He received further pensions from the Hamburg council (1460 and 1487) and from Gut Eckhorst (1483).

In Lübeck he also had some real estate: Johannisstrasse 20 (1465–1469), Johannisstrasse. 63 (1465–1469), Königstr. 39 (since 1466), Fischergrube 18–20 (since 1469), the blacksmith's house in Grosse Burgstrasse. 59 (1476–1481), Breite Str. 30 (since 1481), 53 (before 1488) and 93 (1482–1483), Johannisstr. 41-43 (1483-1484). In addition, he bought the Klein Steinrade estate in 1453 and the village of Eckhorst in 1457. In 1487 he had a trading company with his son Johann and Sander Pleskow, in which Sander Pleskow's share was 500 Marks Lübisch (Mk.) .

From the information in his wills of April 16, 1460, May 26, 1483 and December 19, 1487, it emerges that in addition to his property in 1460 and 1483 he had at least 3000 Mk. And in 1487 more than 6000 Mk. In these wills, his family was given rich attention, but legacies were also given to various churches, monasteries and infirmary in and around Lübeck.

Honorary positions

In 1470 Ludeke Bere was head of the Elendenhaus in the Krähenstrasse and the Marienkirche. Presumably he also held this office in 1483 in the infirmary of St. Jürgen , because he made entries in the books there. In January 1453, he and his brother Herman were enfeoffed with the municipal scales in Lübeck. 1460 he was appointed to the council received and was during his tenure multiple lap Lord (1461-1463, 1476, 1481, 1484).

In 1441 he was accepted as a half member and in 1443 as a full member of the circle society ( membership number 174 ). During his membership he was active as a donor (1442, 1444, 1471), carnival poet (1442, 1447, 1451, 1455), flower poet (1448, 1452, 1470) and as a creator (1449, 1472).

Tomb

His grave was in the choir of the Marienkirche in Lübeck near the high altar. The monumental brass grave plate was described by Jacob von Melle , but was no longer preserved at the beginning of the 20th century. The art historian Walter Paatz ascribed it to Bernt Notke's Lübeck workshop as an artistic work .
