The wooded mountain rises two and a half kilometers northwest of the city center of Nové Město na Moravě above the valley of the Cihelný creek and forms a double peak with the south-west adjacent Šibenice (706 m). To the north is the Ochozawald with the rock formations Bílá skála (776 m) and Černá skála. Brožkův vrch (642 m) rises to the east. The surrounding villages are Jiříkovice, Radňovice and Nové Město na Moravě.

history

The name of the mountain is derived from an owner from the 18th century. In 1907 the first plans were made to build a lookout tower on Harusův Kopec, which were implemented in 1921 by the Nové Město na Moravě sports club when the building with the tower was built. In 1942 the building burned down and was later demolished. Today there is a 75 m high television converter on the mountain that is visible from afar and is not accessible. The mountain is a lookout point. In 2007 a 453 m long chair lift was inaugurated, which leads from the road between Nové Město na Moravě and Jiříkovice to Harusův Kopec and overcomes a difference in altitude of 88 m.

Ski area

The ski area of the town of Nové Město na Moravě is located at Harusův Kopec. The largest downhill section of the Vysočina is on the eastern slope of the mountain. It has a chair lift and is illuminated and artificially snowed during the ski season. In summer the slope is used for grass skiing. At the northeastern foot of the Ochozawald lies the complex of the SKI hotels with biathlon facilities.
