Hashem Sha'bani Amouri ( Persian هاشم شعباني, also Hashem Shaabani , Hashem Shabani or Hashem Shabaninejad ; * approx. 1981 in Ramschir , Iran ; † January 27 or 29, 2014 ) was an Iranian poet . In his profession as a teacher he campaigned for the spread of Arabic language and literature. He wrote his literature in Persian and Arabic. In 2014, Hasem Shaabani was executed for alleged anti-religious and subversive activities.

Life

Shaabani lived with his wife and a son in Ramshir (Arabic: Khalafabad ) in the Iranian province of Khuzestan until his arrest . In addition to his work as a high school teacher, Shaabani wrote poetry in Arabic and Persian. He founded the Dialog Institute for the Dissemination of Arabic Culture and Literature in Iran. Shaabani had a bachelor's degree in Arabic Language and Education and a master's degree in political science from Ahvaz University.

In February 2011, Shaabani was arrested along with four other men of Arab-Ahvazi origin on charges of spreading Arab culture directed against Iran. The arrest came as part of several raids against members of the Arab minority living there. Amnesty International accused the Iranian government that the arrest was based solely on cultural and not political activities.

On December 13, 2011, the English-language government broadcaster Press TV published a "documentary" in which Shaabani, Rashedi and another ethnic Arab admitted in front of the camera that they were part of an Arab terror group called "al-Muqawama asch-Schaʿbiya" (German popular resistance ) to be. This terror group was allegedly responsible for the murder of four members of the Iranian government, with the support of the United States and England. Several human rights groups criticized the television confessions as being obtained through torture in prison by the "Ministry of Intelligence". The defendants later revoked the confessions in court. They viewed Rashedi's fractured pelvis and allegations that Shaabani's foot had been immersed in boiling water to force him to confess as evidence of torture. Amnesty International, as well as the German and international writers' association PEN, linked the confessions with a violation of international standards of fair trial.

In a smuggled from prison to his family secret message Shaabani wrote that he could the persecution of Ahwazi not accept -Minderheit, especially "arbitrary" executions:

“I have tried to defend the legitimate right that everyone in the world has, the right to free life with all civil rights. Despite all this suffering and tragedy, I never took up arms to fight against these atrocities, but I did use my pen. "

On July 7, 2012, a " revolutionary court " sentenced Shaabani and the four other defendants to death . The verdict was justified with Muhāraba ( Eng . "Enmity against God and his Prophet"), Mofsed fil-arz ( Eng . "Corruption on Earth") and alleged activities against national security and spreading propaganda against the Islamic Republic. In January 2013, the highest Iranian court under Sadegh Larijani upheld the death sentences. Iranian President Hassan Rohani signed it.

On December 7, 2013 Hashem Shabani was taken to an unknown location together with Hadi Rashedi without notification of relatives and lawyers from Karoun Prison in Ahvaz and probably on 29 January 2014 (some sources speak of 27 January) by the train executed .
