Haskell Boggs

Haskell Bus Boggs (born April 17, 1909 in Jones , Oklahoma , † May 30, 2003 in Burbank , California ) was an American cameraman .

Life

Boggs began his cinematic career in the 1930s as a camera assistant and became a simple cameraman during the Second World War . In this role he was involved in photography from Five Graves to Cairo , A Lady with a Past , Mother's Heart , The Heiress , The Farm of the Taken , City in the Dark and Around the World in 80 Days . After the latter film, Boggs rose to chief cinematographer in 1956. He initially photographed a few B-movie dramas, but also several comedy outfits with Jerry Lewis from 1958 to 1960 .

In 1960 Boggs was hired as head cameraman of the popular western series Bonanza and was behind the camera for 134 episodes until 1972. During this time he made close friends with one of the four main actors, the actor who played Little Joe Michael Landon . This insisted on the commitment of Boggs for his follow-up projects, the television series Our Little Farm and An Angel on Earth . Boggs was also chief cameraman for Landon's last directorial work before his death, the 1991 film " Far Travel ". Landon junior's documentary about his father, who died in 1991, " Michael Landon: Memories with Laughter and Love " was also photographed by Boggs. After attempting a one-time reissue of the bonanza myth with a new cast (including the children of the former leading actors), " Bonanza - The Return to the Ponderosa ", the 84-year-old Haskell Boggs retired.
