Hasso Niemann

Hasso Bernhard Otto Niemann (born May 3, 1933 in Germany ; † July 11, 2013 in Columbia , Maryland , USA ) was a German-American physicist .

Life

Hasso Niemann received his PhD from the University of Michigan in 1969 . He was a NASA employee at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. He was mainly responsible for the mass spectrometer of the Galileo satellite and later for the gas chromatograph mass spectrometer on board the Huygens satellite. In 2007 he received the first Al Seiff Memorial Award for his outstanding work .
