Haste was an American metalcore band from Birmingham , Alabama .

history

The band was founded in 1993 and released their debut album Pursuit in the Face of Consequence in 1999 as a six-piece formation with two singers and two guitarists as well as a drummer and a bassist.

Two years later, the second work When Reason Sleeps appeared via Century Media . The alternating vocals of Kelly Reaves and Chris Mosley, which alternated between “hoarse screaming”, “rough hardcore barking” and “really great vocals”, tended to be negatively highlighted in the review by laut.de. Musically, the band was placed “between Neurosis and Snapcase ”. At metal.de , however, u. a. Refused and Deftones cited as references. Here, too, the “real singing” was praised and the “ugly circular saw on the microphone” was criticized. All in all , When Reason Sleeps was described as an album that “at first glance doesn't show any visible difference to other genre colleagues”, but then developed positively.

The last album to date, The Mercury Lift , also released via Century Media in 2003, received more favorable reviews from laut.de. Where the predecessor was interpreted as "clearly more confused and psychopathic", the band now increasingly falls back on melodic parts that "often remind of Shelter" and "really encourage you to sing along". Metal.de also praised a “musically quite mature” album, which also distinguishes itself from the “somewhat confused” second work through the balanced distribution of melodic vocal passages and “typical hardcore screams”. In both cases, the song A God Reclaims His Throne was also highlighted, which is characterized in particular by the guest appearance of the Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe .

In early 2007 the band announced the breakup on their Myspace page.
