The historic house at Hauptstrasse 47

The house at Hauptstraße 47 (formerly also called "The Creutz Department Store") is a historically valuable building from the 20th century. It is located in the inner city of the district town Bergheim in the Rhein-Erft district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Building history and architecture

House number 47 was owned by Johann (Jean) Creutz in 1907. He was a businessman and came from Cologne. He had moved to Bergheim through his marriage to Gertrud Bodewig from Bergheim. In the basement of his house at number 47 he ran a manufacture and spice shop . The term “spices” was not understood to mean sweet delicacies, as it is today, but rather spices. They represented a special feature for the kitchen of that time. House no. 47 was probably built around the same time as the neighboring house on Hauptstrasse 45 . Both houses have similar stylistic elements. Johann Peter Creutz, his successor, opened a clothing store here in the 1930s that existed until the 1960s.

Todays use

Today there are shops on the ground floor and living rooms and offices on the upper floors.
