The Eleonore house at Dieburger Straße 55 is a building in Darmstadt .

History and description

The elegant two-storey villa was built in 1888. Stylistically, the villa belongs to historicism .

Low key, Renaissance and Baroque the cite decor emphasizes the windows and building edges. The gable of the gable, which was damaged in an air raid in 1944, was more elaborately designed .

Inside the villa there is a well-preserved, elaborate interior with stucco and overhangs .

Varia

The hillside location of the villa required the construction of a mighty retaining wall in quarry stone ; Here is also the access to an elongated, hall-like rock cellar from before 1850.

Monument protection

The villa is a typical example of the historicizing architectural style in Darmstadt in the second half of the 19th century . For architectural and city history reasons, the villa is a cultural monument .
