History and description

The Kempin house was built in 1911 according to plans by the architect Heinrich Metzendorf . The client was the painter Kurt Kempin . Stylistically, the house with atelier belongs to the country house architecture with Art Nouveau elements . The building was built on a square base. The house has a saddle roof that is pulled down over two storeys and is covered with beaver tail . The wood-paneled gables and the wooden trellis as well as the carefully crafted decorative motifs and the embossed base made of Odenwald sandstone characterize the exterior appearance of the house.

The house was damaged in an air raid in 1944. This was followed by a simplified reconstruction in the roof zone.
