House Lohausen (in old sources also Lohusen , Lohusin , Losen or similar) is an abandoned , medieval Niederungsburg in the Lohausen district of Düsseldorf .

history

House Lohausen was the ancestral seat of the Lords of Kalkum called Lohausen , a sideline of the Lords of Kalkum , who next to the Kalkum u. a. also owned the Leuchtenberg house in the vicinity of Haus Lohausen . The family of the Lords of Kalkum called Lohausen remained in the possession of the Lohausen family until the 19th century.

In 1804 Heinrich Balthasar Lantz acquired the Lohausen house together with the Leuchtenberg house from Ferdinand Freiherr von Kalkum called Lohausen. 1805–1806 the old castle was laid down and the mansion of the Lantz family was built on the foundations of the old moated castle. The only remnant of the castle complex from the time it was laid down is the gatehouse that still exists today (see gallery). The Lantz family laid out the so-called Lantz'schen Park around the new Lantz'sche manor house . The Lantz family lived in the facility for five generations.

In 1972 the city of Düsseldorf acquired the property. The park has been open to the public since 1978. The Lantz house with chapel and park has been registered as a monument since July 29, 1982. After nine years of vacancy, the manor house has been intended to be used as an office with exhibition rooms since 2018.

Since April 12, 1984, the Lohauser Hof (Lohauser Dorfstrasse 53, 40474 Düsseldorf), the 19th century Vorwerk of the Lohausen house, has also been registered as a monument. Today the Lohauser Hof is run as a hotel.
