history

In 1204 Johann von Rode was named as the first entrant. In 1373 Werner von Rode is mentioned on Haus Raedt, who belonged to the "Society of the Pale Horses", an association of robber knights . The castle belonged to the Liedberg office . From 1538 the house belonged to Heinrich Wolff-Metternich . The family owned the estate until 1920. Baron Johann Adolf Wolff Metternich zur Gracht (1592–1669), Privy Councilor of Cologne and Bavaria, court marshal and chief treasurer, had the originally medieval castle house, surrounded by moats, replaced by a new house from 1654 to 1657. His descendants sold Haus Raedt to a timber merchant in 1920.

architecture

At the corners in the brick building protruding cuboid pretenses, in the middle a portal with a sandstone frame, above the coat of arms of Franz-Josef Graf von Wolff-Metternich and Theresia von Gymnich (marriage 1737). The roof is a slated mansard roof . The barn wings belonging to the property are modern.
