Hausbach is a district of the town of Vilshofen an der Donau in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau .

location

The wilderness of Hausbach is located on the right bank of the Danube between Vilshofen and Sandbach on federal highway 8 and the Regensburg – Passau railway line . By far the most striking building is the round church of St. Magdalena.

history

In the 11th century the Passau bishopric had a hat in Hausbach, which Bishop Altmann donated to the St. Nikola monastery in 1076 . In the 14th century Hausbach was a parish under the patronage of the knight Heinrich Tuschl von Söldenau , who wanted to donate Hausbach as a branch of the parish of Vilshofen in 1333 . However, approval for this was apparently denied. In 1376 Tuschl donated a perpetual mass in this church. Hausbach was mentioned as a separate parish in 1431, and it was not until 1536 that it was incorporated into the Vilshofen parish.

Hausbach had been part of the Zeitlarn community since 1821 and came to the city of Vilshofen on May 1, 1978 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .

Attractions

The Church of St. Magdalena , a side church of the parish of Vilshofen, is the oldest round church in Lower Bavaria. In the 15th century, eight wall pillars, a central support, the ribbed vault and an eight-part steep conical roof were added. The west tower was built in the 17th century. The altars and the pulpit are baroque.

The reasons for the construction of the remote church are unknown. It is believed that Count Heinrich I von Ortenburg donated it based on the model of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .
