Hawaiian Gardens is a city in Los Angeles County in the US state of California , United States , with about 14,250 inhabitants (as of 2010). It is the smallest city in Los Angeles County with an urban area of 2.5 km². The then emerging city got its unusual name in the 1920s from a local fruit sales stand, which was built from bamboo and palm leaves. The city was officially registered on April 9, 1964.
